Fang et al. (2020) proposed that subjects administered with ACE-2 elevating drugs for hypertension, diabetes, or cardiac diseases have a higher risk of SARS-CoV-2 infection and, therefore, should be monitored for these medications (L et al., 2020). On the contrary, data collected from several cardiological societies support the administration of ACE inhibitors or ARBs in chronically elevated blood pressure in COVID-19 hospitalized patients (P. Zhang et al., 2020). This evidence concerns the gene ACE and hypertensive disorder.
