EGFR and non-small cell lung carcinoma: Several advances have been made in recent decades since the identification of activating mutations in the EGFR tyrosine kinase domain in NSCLC patients responding to the first-generation tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) gefitinib, and first-line treatment with EGFR TKIs is now a well-established option in advanced EGFR-mutated NSCLC patients.
