Considering the important role of Akt-mediated signaling in a diverse array of CNS conditions, including schizophrenia [68,69,70], depression [71], Alzheimer’s disease [72,73], and Parkinson’s disease [74,75,76,77], our results have important implications for refining our understanding of the molecular determinants of complex neuropsychiatric and neurodegenerative disorders. This evidence concerns the gene AKT1 and early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
