DEA induced predominantly apoptotic cell death in both BC cell lines (Figure 1 and Figure 4), which was demonstrated by fluorescent staining of the phosphatidylserine residues in the outer face of the cell membrane (Figure 1), decrease in the Bcl-2/Bax ratio, activation of caspase 3, and cleavage of PARP-1 (Figure 4); all of them are hallmarks of apoptosis [54].
