It is well known that a decrease of NFATC2 expression is associated with a reduction of the expression of cytokines in T cells, in particular IL-2, IL-3, IL-4 and TNF-alpha; the latter, in particular, is a pro-inflammatory cytokine associated with obesity and insulin resistance [64]. This evidence concerns the gene NFATC2 and obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
