Expression of Th2 mediators such as IL-4 and IL-13 are already known to be hallmarks of allergic diseases, but also the balance between expression of mediators such as tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNF-α) with proangiogenic VEGF may point to differential roles in allergy, but also in autoimmune diseases [35,36,37].
