Studies had found abnormal expression of SSTR in prostate cancer, colorectal cancer, breast cancer, and leiomyoma (Reubi et al., 1998), and high expression of SSTR1 could reduce the proliferation of acetaldehyde dehydrogenase (ALDH) positive cells, resulting in silenced and proliferation inhibition of colon cancer stem cells (Zou Y et al., 2019). The gene discussed is SSTR1; the disease is prostate cancer.
