Recent studies have shown that overexpression of CD44 in cancer cells can promote the interaction between OTUB1 and SLC7A11 to enhance the stability of SLC7A11 (a subunit of glutamate-cystine antiporter system Xc-) and thereby inhibiting the ferroptosis, while the partial depletion of CD44 abolished this interaction (46). This evidence concerns the gene CD44 and cancer.
