IL10 and parasitic infectious disease: Given that subclinical malaria can cause haemolysis (8, 33), that haemolysis induces HO-1 (34), and that HO-1 negatively affects neutrophil function (10) and mediates many of the anti-inflammatory effects of IL-10 (35), this present study was designed to further investigate the haematological and immunological impacts of subclinical malaria parasite infections and their resolution.
