Core binding factor (CBF) acute myeloid leukemia (AML) is a subtype of AML, characterized by the presence of t(8;21)(q22;q22) or inv(16)(p13q22)/t(16;16) recurrent translocations, leading to the formation of unique RUNX1/RUNX1T1 (AML1/ETO) or CBFB/MYH112 fusion transcripts, respectively. The gene discussed is CEBPZ; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
