Over the last decade, individual clinical trial groups have attempted to define the relative importance of a variety of suspected prognostic factors.5,7,13 Poor prognostic factors identified individually in 4 clinical trials included PRETEXT stage IV, distant metastasis, AFP less than 100 ng/mL, and SCU histological characteristics.7 Recently, CHIC developed the most refined risk stratification system for hepatoblastoma by taking into account most known prognostic factors. The gene discussed is AFP; the disease is hepatoblastoma.
