Whole-body scintigraphy or SPECT with bone-seeking tracers [(99mTc)-labeled bisphosphonate compounds: pyrophosphate (PYP); 3,3-diphosphono-1,2-propanodicarboxylic acid (DPD), and hydroxydiphosphonate (HDP)] can reveal amyloid deposits (especially in ATTR subtype) in the heart, as well as PET with [18F] FDG can detect inflammatory cells in some pathological processes such as cardiac sarcoidosis. This evidence concerns the gene TTR and cardiac sarcoidosis.
