CASC2 and cancer: In our previous study, we found that miR-24 and miR-221 could suppress the expression level of caspase-8/3, leading to HCC TRAIL resistance; nevertheless, cancer susceptibility candidate 2 (CASC2), a widely known antitumor lncRNA (24, 25), could inhibit the effects of miR-24 and miR-221 via acting as their “sponge,” suggesting that CASC2 could enhance the sensitivity of HCC cells to TRAIL treatment through CASC2/miR-24/miR-221 axis (26).
