CRP and Decreased total leukocyte count: The typical clinical signs are high/low temperature, leucocytosis/leukopenia, worsening oxygenation, gas exchange or increasing oxygen requirements, new infiltrates on chest x-ray (CXR) or computerised tomography (CT), suggestive auscultation, general worsening in haemodynamic state, increase in purulent sputum, (colour, thickness and/or frequency), increase in c-reactive protein (CRP), drop in blood pressure, drop in platelet count and others.
