As shown in Fig. 2 and Additional file 2: Fig. S1, after correcting for multiple testing (P< 0.05/1703), a significant local genetic correlation was only observed for adult BMI and PCOS at chr18: 57630483–59020751, a genetic region harboring MC4R, a locus previously reported to be associated with adult BMI, childhood BMI and obesity in PCOS [14, 30–33]. The gene discussed is MC4R; the disease is obesity due to melanocortin 4 receptor deficiency.
