Although immunoblotting for lamin A revealed no detectable expression of this protein in either APL cell line both before or after ATRA treatment (Figure S3), this result was expected given prior western blotting of HL-60 (Rowat et al., 2013), a cell line that was derived from a patient mistakenly diagnosed with APL but later found to lack the PML-RARA fusion gene (Dalton et al., 1988). This evidence concerns the gene PML and acute promyelocytic leukemia.
