In vitro study showed that Oligomeric amyloid-β (Aβ) directly inhibits the MT-dependent ATPase activity of KIF2C and leads to abnormal mitotic spindles, which may cause chromosome mis-segregation and increased aneuploid neurons and thereby contributes to the development of Alzheimer’s disease (Borysov et al., 2011). Here, KIF2C is linked to early-onset autosomal dominant Alzheimer disease.
