To investigate whether these homeostatic ISGs protect against MRV, we used Ifnlr1 IEC-cKO mice that lack homeostatic ISGs (Figures 4 and 6) rather than using ABX treatment, which introduces pleiotropic effects on rotavirus infection (Uchiyama et al., 2014) and dramatically increases transit time through the intestine (Baldridge et al., 2015). This evidence concerns the gene IFNLR1 and Rotavirus infection.
