Although the results of the ELISA studies did not confirm the difference between the Gelsolin protein levels in the CSF of RRMS patients and in individuals with non-inflammatory diseases of the CNS, the data from the proteomics analysis suggest that a change in a posttranslational modification of the protein in the CSF, with impact on its migration in 2D-PAGE, is a hallmark of MS patients.
