In acute myeloid leukaemia, mmrn1 is one of the genes that is upregulated by the action of the oncoprotein MLL-AF6, which is a fusion of the histone methyltransferase mixed lineage leukaemia (MLL) and the cytoplasmic protein AF6 as a result of gene rearrangement [131–133]. Here, MMRN1 is linked to acute myeloid leukemia.
