Adult ZIKV infection is associated with immune activation with upregulation of cellular markers, including CD69, Ki67 and increases insoluble markers, including MCP-1, IL-2, IL-15, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) and IL-10 in the first few days post-infection [60, 61, 63, 64].
