Previous study indicated several PRRs have been implicated in the progression of cervical cancer [23], the NLR family of PRRs has been identified in host immune defense [11, 29], and its members NOD1 and NOD2 are widely expressed in the female reproductive organs including endometrium, fallopian tubes, cervix, and ecto-cervix [27, 30, 31]. This evidence concerns the gene NOD1 and cervical cancer.
