During the pathogenesis of common neurodegenerative diseases, continuous stimulation by misfolded proteins (e.g., a-synuclein or Aβ) induces chronic NLRP3 inflammasome activation, leading to neuropathology (Broz, 2015); however, it remains unclear whether NLRP3-dependent pyroptosis plays a role in sevoflurane-induced neuropathy.
