In that study, Di Ianni et al. showed that infusion of thymic-derived CD4+CD25+FoxP3+ Tregs on day−4 followed by CD34+-selected peripheral blood stem cells and conventional T-cell infusion on day 0 eliminated GvHD without the use of post-transplant immunosuppression; it also improved immune recovery and was not associated with an increased risk of relapse (96). The gene discussed is CD4; the disease is graft versus host disease.
