A prospective randomized study allocated breast cancer patients to sevoflurane group and propofol group respectively, and this study showed that serum VEGF concentrations were significantly higher after surgery in the sevoflurane group than in the propofol group, however, the serum VEGF concentrations kept unchanged in propofol group, and the concentrations of TGF-β did not significantly differ between sevoflurane and propofol groups both before and after surgery (68). The gene discussed is VEGFA; the disease is breast carcinoma.
