The monomeric form of CRP (mCRP) originates from adissociation of the native pentameric form (nCRP) on the surface of activatedplatelets and damaged cells [2, 3] and can be found in the necrotic zones afteracute myocardial infarction and in atherosclerotic plaques [4]. The gene discussed is CRP; the disease is myocardial infarction.
