ACE and lung carcinoma: Modern pharmacological studies have shown that the alkaloids in BFC have significant antitussive, expectorant, anti-asthmatic, anti-inflammatory, anti-oxidant, antitumor, and angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibition activities and exhibit good curative effect on cough, sputum, tracheobronchial contraction, acute lung injury, inflammation, and lung cancer (Luo et al., 2012; Wang et al., 2017b; Zhao et al., 2018b; Yin et al., 2019; Chen et al., 2020c).
