SERCA2b overexpression significantly suppresses steatosis by inhibiting the upregulation of the expression of lipogenic genes (DGAT2, SCD1, and ACC2) in ob/ob mice (Park et al., 2010); however, SERCA2b overexpression does not influence the expression of SREBP1c, a master regulator of the aforementioned lipogenic genes.
