As a PPAR-α agonist, fenofibrate has been widely used in the treatment of dyslipidemia (Liu et al., 2014), it can effectively against NAFLD and improve liver function (Prisingkorn et al., 2017), and the probable mechanism is that fenofibrate activates PPARα, which can prevent excessive hepatic triglyceride (TG) accumulation (Kostapanos et al., 2013). The gene discussed is PPARA; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease.
