The expression of mammary NRF2–UGT1A8 is down-regulated in breast cancer rats, and treatment with resveratrol upregulates the expression of NRF2–UGT1A8, increases the elimination of catechol estrogens, halts DNA damage induced by estrogen, and reduces breast cancer development, which was abolished by small-interfering RNA-mediated silencing of NRF2. This evidence concerns the gene UGT1A8 and breast carcinoma.
