Another study shows that ectopic expression of p53 mutants (p53R175H and p53P151S) inhibits AMPK activity and subsequently reduces phosphorylation of Acetyl-CoA carboxylase (ACC) under glucose and serum starvation in a p53-null head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cell line UMSCC1 (Zhou et al., 2014). The gene discussed is TP53; the disease is head and neck squamous cell carcinoma.
