In one study, the levels of autoantibodies s (e.g., anti-ssDNA, anti-RNA, anti-histone, and anti-nucleosome IgG), inflammatory cytokines (e.g., IFN-γ and IL-4), and disease symptoms were significantly reduced in anti-ANX A1 antibody-treated humanized SLE mice (12 weeks old NSG mice engrafted with 1×107 PBMCs/mouse from patients with SLE), compared to the humanized SLE mice treated with the isotype control antibody (15). Here, IFNG is linked to systemic lupus erythematosus.
