Due to the delay in the diagnosis of HIV infection, late presenters are a significant group of patients (Mocroft et al., 2013; Darling et al., 2016), who tend to have CD4+ T cell below 200 cells/mm3 in many cases and start cART late (Antinori et al., 2011), and thus, having worse CD4+ recovery rates (Negredo et al., 2010; Pérez-Molina et al., 2012).
