GCLM and rheumatoid arthritis: TNF, which is a crucial proinflammatory cytokine in RA pathogenesis, can inhibit the onset of ferroptosis by upregulating solute carrier family 7 member 11 (SLC7A11), glutamate-cysteine ligase catalytic subunit (GCLM), and glutamate-cysteine ligase regulatory subunit (GCLC), thus promoting cystine uptake and the biosynthesis of cellular GSH.
