Reportedly, miR-628-5p represses the malignant phenotypes of glioma cells by targeting high mobility group protein B3 (HMGB3) and DEAD-box helicase 59 (DDX59). It is downregulated in glioma tissues and cells, indicating that miR-628-5p is a tumor suppressor in the brain.18 This evidence concerns the gene HMGB3 and central nervous system cancer.
