The presence of NASH was an independent predictor of significant fibrosis (odds ratio (OR), 2.53; 95% CI, 1.52–4.21; p < 0.001) and severe fibrosis (OR, 1.83; 95% CI, 1.09–3.09; p = 0.023) in all patients, as well as in patients with normal alanine aminotransferase (ALT) (predicting significant fibrosis, OR, 2.86, 95% CI, 1.34–6.10; p = 0.007). The gene discussed is GPT; the disease is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis.
