DPP4 and pancreatitis: Likewise, recent systematic reviews on the safety of DPP-4 inhibitors showed that DPP-4 inhibitors are safer compared with other oral antidiabetic drugs12 and that DPP-4 inhibitors use may not be associated with a higher risk for pancreatitis than other antidiabetic drugs.58 Our analyses suggest that the main benefit of DPP-4 inhibitors arises from the avoidance of severe adverse events and reduction of risks particularly relevant for older patients (e.g. falls).
