Definitive association of an antineuronal antibody response in paraneoplastic neurological disease began with a report by Greenlee and Brashear in 1983; they identified the antibody now known as “anti-Yo” (“PCA1”) in patients with cerebellar degeneration in the setting of ovarian cancer (14) and with subsequent confirmatory work by Jaeckle et al. in 1985 (15). The gene discussed is CDR2; the disease is cerebellar degeneration.
