In gastric cancers, CD44v8-10 interacts with glutamate-cysteine transporter xCT and increases cystine transport and GSH synthesis, resulting in suppression of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and p38 activation (Ishimoto et al., 2011), indicating that CD44 variants are involved in supporting the functions of CSC’s in gastric cancer. Here, CD44 is linked to gastric cancer.
