We found that in lung tissues, the frequency of disseminated tumor cells expressing nuclear NR2F1 was upregulated ~3-fold in SM cells when compared to EM cells (53% vs. 19%) (Fig. 4b, “Lung” columns), suggesting that a significantly greater proportion of spontaneously disseminated tumor cells enter dormancy as supported by prior studies using SM protocols43,45. This evidence concerns the gene NR2F1 and neoplasm.
