Nevertheless, while the elevated pyruvate (m+3) to malate (m+4) ratio in G6PD mutant as compared to control melanomas may have been influenced by circulating lactate/pyruvate (m+3), the data suggest a relative increase in malic enzyme’s contribution to the pyruvate pool in the G6PD mutant tumors because the levels of lactate (m+3) and pyruvate (m+3) in the blood did not differ between mice with G6PD mutant and control melanomas. This evidence concerns the gene G6PD and melanoma.
