A second‐generation antiandrogen agent, enzalutamide was demonstrated to reduce the expression of TMPRSS2 that mediated SARS‐CoV‐2‐driven entry in prostate cancer cells.[134] However, studies on both human lung organoids and lung cancer cells showed that enzalutamide failed to prevent SARS‐CoV‐2 infection due to the androgen receptor‐independent TMPRSS2 expression in lung epithelium. This evidence concerns the gene TMPRSS2 and prostate cancer.
