We reason that glucose-regulated-protein 78 (GRP78, HSPA5), a key regulator on the unfolded protein response (UPR) that is evolutionarily conserved across species15, is a promising target for AML-redirected CAR T cell therapy since it normally resides in the endoplasmic reticulum (ER)16. The gene discussed is HSPA5; the disease is acute myeloid leukemia.
