While the level of β-globin (both 1+ and 2+ charged) was negatively correlated with Hb F, and the ratio between α-globin and β-globin (α/β, both 1+ and 2+ charged) was positively correlated with Hb F. These results indicate that the features based on MALDI-TOF can effectively reflect the haemoglobin-related changes in thalassaemia patients. This evidence concerns the gene GSTM1 and thalassemia.
