NLRP3 and atherosclerosis: Ox-LDL might induce EC pyroptosis and promote the development of atherosclerosis by regulating the miR-125a-5p/ten-eleven translocation 2 (TET2) pathway, resulting in mitochondrial dysfunction, increased ROS generation, and NF-κB nuclear transposition that triggered the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome and inflammatory response (Zhaolin et al., 2019).
