Moreover, we observed a positive correlation among CXCL9, IFN-γ, and perforin gene expression in the heart of infected animals (Supplementary Figures S4A–C), suggesting that CXCL9-mediated recruitment of IFN-γ and perforin-expressing cells may have had a positive impact on parasite control at day 13 after infection.
