RPS6KB1 and cancer: Rapamycin analogs (“rapalogs”) are in clinical use against human cancer and act in part by inhibiting S6K (Ferrari et al., 1993; Meng and Zheng 2015), and S6K inhibitors are under development as cancer therapeutics (Pearce et al., 2010; Nam et al., 2019), consistent with the well-established role of S6K activation in the molecular pathogenesis of multiple cancers.
