After in vitro characterization, we demonstrate the photobiomodulation effect of smart LED contact lens on diabetes‐induced retinal damage in rabbits with the analysis of glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP), vimentin, intercellular adhesion molecule‐1 (ICAM‐1), vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF), complement 3 (C3), and cyclooxygenase‐2 (COX2) in the retina. The gene discussed is GFAP; the disease is diabetes mellitus.
