Recently, extract of Pandanus tectorius fruit, a candidate anti-AS agent from natural resources, demonstrated anti-AS and anti-hypercholesterolemic effects by upregulating the gene expression of SR-B1 and downregulating the levels of 3-hydroxy-3-methylglutaric acid, indicating that it can be used as a preventive agent for hypercholesterolemia and AS [97]. Here, SCARB1 is linked to familial hypercholesterolemia.
