ITGA6 and breast cancer: Jin et al. (2019) reported that METTL3 and ALKBH5 modulate ITGA6 expression in BC cells to alter cell adhesion, thereby indicating the carcinogenic effects of m6A-modified ITGA6 and its regulatory mechanisms on BC initiation and development. In addition, down-regulated ALKBH5 expression in BC tissue and cell lines is related to a poor prognosis in patients with BC. ALKBH5 knockdown promotes BC cell proliferation, migration, and invasion, and reduces ciplatin chemosensitivity (Yu et al., 2021).
