Uchida et al. (2014) reported that maternal stress and mutations in glutamate decarboxylase (GAD) 67, both risk factors for psychiatric disorders, can cause selective loss of PV+ GABAergic interneurons in the cerebral cortex. This suggests that specific degeneration of PV+ neurons can be associated with dysfunction of tau and GAD67, which needs further study. Here, GLUL is linked to psychiatric disorder.
